We know how important it is to rank your product and we do have the option to target certain keywords with your URLs.
A Keyword Targeted URL is a special link that shoppers use to purchase your product, and the link includes the keyword(s) of your choice.
And when the Keyword Targeted URL is clicked by a shopper, it takes them to a search results page that includes the keyword in the URL and your specific product. This means that when shoppers click on the 'Purchase' button on their accounts, they will be redirected to your listing using a URL similar to this one:
When they complete the order, Amazon will attribute their purchase to the keyword specified in the link.
Using these Keyword Targeted URLs with your promotions will give your product an extra boost when it comes to being ranked for the keyword you have chosen, since Amazon categorizes any purchases made using that link as though the orders came in after a search for that keyword.
So you get both a sale AND a much-coveted organic promotion of your listing.
And how do you use this feature inside the Promotions setup? It's quite easy!
You will find this option in Step #2 of the Promotion creation process; so head to the Promotions page to create a new discounted giveaway or, if you created one previously, to edit the previous promotion on Jump Send:
Scroll to the bottom and select ‘I wish to use a keyword targeted URL’ to see the options:
You should then see the option to enter up to a maximum of 3 keywords to target for your product promotion. Please keep in mind that adding multiple keywords means those will be rotated evenly amongst every order you receive.
**In most cases we highly recommend to only use one main keyword, as using more than this can your dilute results.
It's also very important that you 'Verify' that your keyword is valid by clicking the blue 'Verify Keyword' button (see screenshot below). Jump Send can only accept keywords that your product is already indexed for on Amazon:
NOTE: If you’re unable to verify your keyword on the first try, you can head over to Amazon to verify that your product is indeed indexed for that keyword. To do that, type in the main keywords you want to add + your product’s ASIN into Amazon’s search bar, like this:
If your product shows up as a result then it means it's indeed indexed for that particular keyword.
Once your keywords are verified you can continue to adjust information as needed, finish the steps and Publish your promotion. When you are done, the shoppers who request your product will now get a unique link that helps your product get a higher ranking for that keyword specifically.
One important thing to mention is that although Amazon doesn’t explicitly forbid the use of Keyword Targeted URLs, there’s a chance that down the line they may consider the use of these URLs ranking manipulation. But we can say that, so far, we have not heard of any sellers being negatively affected from using Keyword Targeted URLs.
If anything changes in the future, though, we will make sure to adjust it so that we remain compliant with Amazon's Terms of Service!
